8 Simple Ways to Maintain Your Prostate Health


The majority of men ignore their prostate health until much later on in life. It often becomes too late when prostate problems begins to develop. Therefore, it is important to learn about your prostate and start taking measures to maintain your prostate health. Your prostate is like any other organ in your body. If you live a healthy lifestyle, all the organs in your body will stay healthy. Your heart, your brain, your lungs and your prostate. The following are the 8 simple ways to maintain your prostate health.

1. Consume alcohol and caffeine moderately.

Try not to drink too much. Consume everything in moderation. I keep my alcoholic beverages to around three glasses per week and I only have one cup of coffee each day.

2. Visit your family doctor regularly

I visit my family doctor about every six months in order to make sure I do not suffer any health problem even though I feel healthy. Therefore, if you have not seen your family doctor for a while although you believe you are in excellent health, I recommend you pay your doctor a visit for a checkup.

3. Tai Chi Exercises

I have been a Tai Chi practitioner for a number of years and I know several people who have gotten their prostate cancers under control through practising Tai Chi. I recommend you find a Tai Chi instructor in your local area and sign up for the classes.

4. Eat healthy

Avoid processed food if you can. Do not eat fast foods like fries and pizzas. Your body will thank you later. I eat a variety of leafy vegetables and fruits. I choose lean protein like chicken breasts and fish instead of red meat and pork. Consume less white sugar, salts and white flours.

5. Kegel exercises

Not many people know how to perform Kegel exercises. Perform this exercise by tightening the muscles around your scrotum and anus and then release them. I usually tighten them for about ten seconds, release them and repeat about fifteen times ten times a day. If you do this as well, your prostate health will be improved significantly.

6. Lose weight

I was overweight when I was much younger but I managed to get myself in shape through diet and exercise. If you are overweight, I recommend you do your best to lose it so you can keep your prostate healthy.

7. Take vitamin D and zinc supplements

It is easy to get vitamin D, you just have to soak yourself in sunshine. As for zinc, you can eat oysters or take zinc supplements. I love oysters and eat them at least a few times each month.

8. Stop smoking

Not only smoking is bad for your lungs, it is also bad for your prostate health. If you do not smoke, stay that way. If you smoke, quit now.
